Title: EXPLORATION OF ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING
APPLICATION (ERP) UPGRADE CRITICAL FACTORS AND CONCEPTS
Investigator:
Mike Eghan PMP MBA
DCS-IA Candidate
Computer Science Faculty
Purpose
of the Research:
The purpose of the
research is to create theoretical knowledge on ERP upgrade lifecycle phenomenon
to seek better understanding of the critical success factors and key concepts
which influence ERP upgrade lifecycle phenomenon.
Reason
for selecting a potential participant:
You will be selected as
a research participant if you are qualified ERP professional with appreciable
knowledge and experience in ERP upgrade, and meet the selection criteria stated
below after procedure section.
Procedures:
You will be trained through email on
the internet interviewing tool (WebEx) which will be used to collect data, i.e.
if you are not familiar with WebEx. The
training will be followed by an hour and half (one hour and thirty minutes)
online interviewing process which will start with demographic questions
followed by the open ended ERP upgrade questions. During the interview drawing
of models and table of critical success factors will be presented to you and
.the whole of the interview process will be audio recorded. After the interview
process, the audio recordings of the interview will be transcribed and sent
back to you to crosscheck for accuracy and completeness and possibly make any
needed changes. Validated transcripts of the interview responses and field
notes will then be securely stored in their respective folders in the research
data analysis tool (Dedoos) and
Microsoft word to ensure confidentiality of personal information.
Criteria,
Benefits, Risk and Discomforts:
The
criteria for selecting participants require that participants have at least
their bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields, must have at
least 5 years experience in upgrading ERP (SAP, Oracle and Microsoft)
applications, the ERP whose upgrade experience will be collected must have been
implemented at least two years or more before the initiation of the upgrade
process, and participants must have access to the internet at the time of
interviewing. The outcome of the research will benefit the participants
by providing new knowledge for understanding ERP upgrade projects and a
framework of best practices for implementing and managing ERP upgrades. The
only known risk of the research to the participant is exposing or sharing their
information without their consent. To prevent this risk all data collected will
be stored in a secured database. The consent of the participants will be
requested before the data or the result of the research will be shared on disclosed.
Opportunity
to ask Questions:
You have the privilege
to ask any question concerning the research to clarify any doubts before
signing the informed consent form. Any question regarding the rights of the
research participants can be directed to the investigator. You may also contact
University of Colorado Technical University’s Institutional Review Board to
seek any clarification about the research.
Freedom
to withdraw:
Your participation in
this study is voluntary. Hence you are free to either sign or not sign the
informed consent form to participate in the research study or withdraw at
anytime from the research. If you decide not participate or withdraw from the
study, your decision will be respected and it will not affect any priory
relationship with the investigator or other stakeholders of the research.
Consent:
You are being asked to
voluntarily decide whether you will like to participate in the research study.
By providing your name and email address below, you will be sent an copy of the informed consent and IRB to review and agree to voluntarily
participate in the research study as an interviewee.
Thank
you:
The investigator wishes
to express sincere gratitude in advance for agreeing to participate in the
study to provide deeper understanding on ERP upgrade project implementation.
